The 60’s… O’ Woe To Me… Damn Vietnam

O’ Woe To Me by Debbie Rapp, age 14

Poems by Debbie Rapp - O' Woe To Me Jan. 1967

A Throwback to My past… Ah, My Past… Some called it… ‘Hippy’
others still call me the Original ‘Flower Child’ or ‘Earth Child’.

I will be posting poetry from over 50 years ago, for an insight into some ‘Minds of the Times’. I needed to get it out there, so bear with me, I believe that these poems display some of the ‘Last Vestiges of Innocence’.

I hope you join me on my journey, as I recount many things from my past,               and explore the many other creative possibilities in my future. – OmaEagle

  1. Thank you my Baby,
This was one of those poems that just came pouring out of me. It was an emotional response, or should I say
‘outburst’ back to some ‘adult’ people in my Adult Night Philosophy class. They were ‘getting’ on me about Vietnam.
After I sat down, I had to remember what all had come out, by remembering the rhythm I had ‘RAPPed’ out, as I wrote it down in my Marble Composition book. A few years later, I decided to collect some of my ‘Poetry’ together, and type them out with my old clunky Royal typewriter. 🙂
